Luftwaffe on the Eastern Front

This year, I revisited my NQM Orbats for the Luftwaffe on the Eastern Front. This does not include the Feltluftgau (Special staff groups for controlling logistics in the Field) as even I recognise that an interest in logistics can become obsessive at some point. The orbat will of course be tweaked as I have taken 1941 as my starting point.  As ever, the (bold numbers in brackets) are the number of models needed to play the campaign with NQM at a scale of 1 model equals 30 aircraft . Prior to this, I had modelled each Staffel (Squadron) as one model with 1 strength point each.

Fw 190 Jagdeschwaeder of 4 Gruppe as revised for 1 model = 30 aircraft

At this scale, each model is a Gruppe and has 3 strength points.

  1. I’m a bit short on Ju-88s but other than that I thnk I can mostly cover this! Worrying, isn’t it?

    • With anyone other than you or Peter Schulman, then perhaps 🙂 …….

As it happens, my current Luftwaffe comprises :

      Bf-110 (3)
      Bf-109 (6)
      Fi-156 Storch (1)
      Fw-190 (4)
      Fw-189 Uhu
      He-111s (2)
      Ju-52 (1)
      Ju-88 (4)
      Ju-87B (4), Ju87G (1) – the tankbuster
      Me-262 (2) Thanks Tim!

So I suspect this total has a way to go before it will gain any sort of air superiority over you, or the Soviets for that matter “Wo ist die Luftwaffe?”.

      regards, Chris

  2. Well since you ask (sort of), here goes
    4 Bf110
    11 Bf109
    5 Fw190
    2 Me262
    2 Hs129
    3 Do335
    4 Storch
    8 Ju87
    1 Hs123
    3 Do17
    4 He111
    2 Ju88
    3 He177
    2 Ar234
    3 Ju52
    1 Ju38
    1 Fw200

    • Cool! with Luftwaffe orbats down to 20-30% in 1942, we aren’t far off if we pool our resources. I’m impressed that you own three Tante Jus and eleven Bf 109s. Planning on invading any islands in the Med were we?

      Kind regards, Chris

  3. Er, “Broadsword calling Danny Boy….”
