Winter Offensive 1942

As the ground hardened and the first flurries of winter snow blew in from the east, the troops of 1PzKorps felt confident that they could hold on to the gains of the summer in KHARKOV and DNEPROPETROVSK. It was true that Fall Blau had not reached the CAUCASUS, but surely that was only a matter of time. Reinforcements from the Reich would replenish the ranks over winter, ready for a new offensive in spring. This then was the situation as the Rasputitsa came to an end  in the south.
